WelcomeRichard Pearce - Psychotherapist and Counsellor
Welcome to The Quiet Space. I have named my practice in this way to highlight the place within us we often seek to find, and which, through the turbulence and sometimes anguish of living our lives we lose or fail to discover. As a therapist I feel it is my privilege to assist those who spend time with me in seeking out that place within.
I am an experienced, existentially trained counsellor and psychotherapist practising in the Bath area. I am also an accredited supervisor. In these pages I describe my approach to therapeutic work, and provide information about myself and my training.
I work with people of all ages and backgrounds. The concerns people bring to therapy are varied in both severity and description; hence the therapy also varies in intensity and duration. Sometimes people come with a very clear idea of the nature of their concerns, others know only that their lives feel painful and burdensome. In my work I emphasise that each individual is both unique and valuable, and that the issues that they bring are always worthy of attention.
As a psychotherapist and counsellor I believe that it is a privilege when people share their concerns with me, whatever they happen to be. Mostly those concerns will involve one or more of the following:
- Addressing and resolving specific feelings or states of mind
- Coping with crisis and change
- Developing personal insight and knowledge
- Improving relationships with others
- Making decisions
- Working through feelings of inner conflict
